  • The Leather Waist Bag Story

Several years back in our tight little community of Orange Park Acres we had two very serious horse accidents. Both riders were very good riders, but one passed away in the hospital and the other was in a wheel chair for about five years and died too. That year my horsey friends and I went to the local tack shop and bought our helmets together in solidarity. I personally did not like wearing my helmet, but once I got over the helmet hair issue I realized I didn’t like the lack of shade that a helmet gives as opposed to a classy looking cowgirl hat = (

I saw someone in a “helmet hat” made by Resistol, so I got one! Yikes, talk about alien head, that thing was huge, heavy and ugly. It was black and the brim was felt and it attracted every particle of pollen, dust, hair and I hated it… I sold it on eBay. So I did some research and found a facebook page of a nice husband who had made a helmet hat for his wife. I tried to order one, but they didn’t sell them, so I watched his video and tried to make one for myself. I ruined three cowboy hats, but I finally got there and the result was good enough to wear. My friends wanted one too, so I started making them, made some changes in the process and “cuted “ them up and here we are!

I have made over 500 of these babies now and have sold them in practically every state. Also, Canada and Australia.

We try to keep about a dozen on the website, but will gladly custom make what you want at no additional charge. Please call or text Joanne at 714-743-0459 with any questions.
